This step produces a verified document checklist. With the signed proposal, the full contract with every appendix, and your last 12 utility bills, you have everything needed for the pricing audit and system-sizing check in later phases. The common trap: the contract appendix that lists equipment model numbers is often a separate unnumbered PDF that looks like boilerplate.
- Locate the signed solar proposal — the multi-page quote with system size, panel count, inverter model, and total cash price.
- Find the full contract — signature pages, terms and conditions, and every appendix or exhibit. Verify each page is numbered and present.
- Download or scan your last 12 months of utility bills — one PDF per month or a single annual summary from your utility portal.
- If financing: gather the loan application, Truth-in-Lending disclosure, and any dealer-fee addendum.
- If leasing or PPA: locate the lease agreement or power purchase agreement, not just the one-page summary.
