Install a home EV charger and claim every rebate you qualify for

  1. Identify your car’s charging specs

    This step produces a one-line spec card: your car’s connector, its maximum AC charging rate in kW, and the cable that ships with it, each with the page or URL it came from.

    1. Open the owner’s manual — the printed copy in the glovebox, the car’s app, or the manufacturer’s support site (search “owner’s manual” plus make and model).
    2. Find the “Charging” or “Specifications” section and note the maximum AC (Level 2) charge rate in kW — not the DC fast-charge figure.
    1. Note the connector: NACS (Tesla and most 2025+ models), J1772 (most other EVs), or CHAdeMO (older Nissan Leafs).
    2. Note what cable ships in the trunk: a J1772 cable, a NACS cable, or an adapter for the other standard.
    3. Write the three values and the exact page number or URL on a card — it feeds the demand math and the charger choice later.
