- Interview the buyers of notary services in your city1 hour 30 min
Before you spend a dollar, find the people in your city who already pay for notary work. Five buyer types matter: real-estate agents, title and escrow companies, mortgage brokers, attorneys, and elder-law or estate-planning offices. Your job is at least three interviews spread across at least three of these types, with notes you can hand to someone else.
Reach each person by phone or email; say you are testing a local mobile notary service and ask for ten minutes. Ask the same questions in the same order so the answers compare:
- How often do you need a notary in a typical month?
- Do clients come to you, or do you need someone to travel to them?
- What do you currently pay, and who do you use now — then who would they recommend if that person were unavailable?
- What would make them hand work to a new notary: speed, evenings, same-day, or price? Write the answers down during the call, not after.
Keep the interview list with names and numbers. The people they recommend become your next targets, and this same list feeds the go/no-go check at the end of this phase.
