- Decide if a referral creates genuine value for the referred contact45 min
A referral works when the invitee is better off joining, not just the inviter being paid. Test the mechanic before you build it.
- Does the product get more useful when contacts join — shared workspace, collaboration, network, team plan that lowers per-seat price?
- Does the referred person save money, time, or effort by being invited versus finding you alone?
- Is there a natural moment where a happy user wants to bring someone in to complete a job?
If the answer to all three is no, a cash reward alone rarely sustains sharing. You will pay for invites that would have happened anyway or that never convert.
