Get to the start line of your first Half Ironman

    Every athlete in a USA Triathlon-sanctioned event (which includes every Ironman 70.3 held in the US) must hold a USAT annual membership or buy a one-day license. For your first 70.3, the Silver tier at $69.99/year is the right choice — it covers all sanctioned races for the calendar year and includes participant accident insurance up to $25,000. This step produces your USAT membership number, which you will enter on your race registration form.

    Go to member.usatriathlon.org and click “Sign Up.” Select Silver Annual Membership ($69.99). Create an account with your name exactly as it appears on your government-issued ID — mismatched names delay packet pickup later. Enter your mailing address, date of birth and emergency contact. Complete payment with a credit card. Your digital membership card and number appear immediately in your account dashboard; you can also download a PDF card for your phone wallet.

    Keep your USAT membership number somewhere you can find it without your phone: a screenshot, a note in your race folder, or written on the back of your phone case. You will need it again at registration and at packet pickup.
