- Verify runtimes and terminal commands from memory1 hour
Understand first — The terminal is a text shell that runs programs by name. Node runs JavaScript outside the browser, npm installs packages for that Node, and Git tracks file history. Each tool reports which version is currently active, and the shell tracks which folder you are standing in.

On macOS open Terminal or VS Code → Terminal → New Terminal; on Windows open Windows Terminal or VS Code terminal. Type each command and note the output in one view. Expected: three version strings and a path like /Users/you/projects or C:/Users/you/projects.
Close the terminal, reopen it, and reproduce all four from memory. If a command says not found, install or activate the correct tool before continuing — do not skip to the next phase.
