Write a landing page that converts

  1. Run the 8-second stranger test on your current page
    30 min

Your page is obvious to you because you already know what it does. A stranger decides in about 8 seconds whether to keep reading, using only the headline, subhead and visual. This step captures that first impression before you edit anything, so you have a before record to compare against later.

What you will test: Can a person outside your field say what it does, who it is for, and what to click next — without guessing or filling in blanks. You will also note your current baseline numbers so later changes are not judged on feeling.

Baseline to record on the same sheet:

    • Sessions on the landing page in the last 14–30 days
    • Bounce rate or engaged sessions
    • Clicks on the primary call to action ÷ sessions = CTA click rate
    • If you have no analytics yet, write baseline: not installed and move on — do not guess.
