- Create Your NCEES Account and Initiate the Record30 min
What you produce: an active NCEES account and a Record ID number — a 6-to-8-digit number that identifies your dossier to every state board.
The NCEES Record is the central repository that holds your education, exam history, experience narratives, and references — build it once, release it to any board.
Create the account.
- Go to ncees.org and click Create Account.
- After verifying your email, log in and select My NCEES Record → Start a New Record.
Enter your legal name exactly. Use your full legal name as it appears on your government-issued ID — a mismatch is the most common reason NCEES delays a Record release.
Personal Information. Include your Social Security number or ITIN — most state boards require it.
Education. Add every post-secondary institution, the degree awarded, and graduation date.
Employment. List every engineering position held, with employer name, job title, and start/end dates (month and year).
Submit and record.
- Read the Record acknowledgements carefully, then submit.
- Copy the Record ID number into your notes.
