Instrument your product so the numbers mean something

  1. Write the three business questions you need answered
    45 min

Work on one page before you open any tool. Create a doc or sheet titled Measurement questions — [date] and do not open your analytics product yet.

Write exactly three rows, one per area, using the same sentence form:

    • If we knew X, we would do Y.

Add three columns next to each question: Decision it changes, Owner, Deadline (within 30 days).

    Cover:

    • Acquisition — which source or message brings users worth keeping
    • Activation — which early action predicts who stays
    • Retention — which behaviour shows the product is still useful week after week

Be specific about X and Y. X is a measurable fact, Y is an action you control — pause a channel, change onboarding, adjust pricing, fix a feature.
