- List thirty workplaces and campuses within reach1 hour
This step produces the prospect table the whole phase works from: at least 30 employers, universities, and large campuses in your city or metro area, each with 100 or more employees or students. Nothing gets contacted yet — this is one desk hour that turns scattered names into a ranked list. The tricky part is the contact column: for most sites it exists but is not published, and the discipline is to record the row anyway and move on.
Pull candidate sites from three places: your chamber of commerce’s largest-employers list, the HR or employment pages of local universities and community colleges, and the tenant directories of large office parks near your base.
For each site, fill one row: name, street address, distance from your base, estimated headcount, the HR or facilities contact where one exists, and the source. Filter to sites with 100 or more employees or students, and record the headcount you found rather than a guess.
Rank the list by distance from your base first, then headcount — travel time is dead time on a mobile route. Build 30–40 rows so the top ten still has depth after uncontactable sites fall away.
