- The IATA code for Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport, the main international airport north of Paris. In this guide it is the arrival airport for the inbound flight, where you transfer to the centre by RER B, taxi or bus.

- The IATA code for Barcelona El Prat Airport, the main international airport southwest of Barcelona. In this guide it is the departure airport for the flight home.

- Frecciarossa
- The Italian high-speed train service operated by Trenitalia. In this guide it runs the Milan or Turin to Florence leg and the direct Florence Santa Maria Novella to Roma Termini leg.
- timed entry
- A ticket valid only for a specific date and time window at an attraction. In this guide the Louvre, Eiffel Tower, Uffizi, Colosseum, Vatican Museums and Sagrada Família all require timed entries booked on official sites.
