Who it's for

Travellers with a booked or planned dive holiday who need an open-water certification before departure. Also suitable for anyone wanting to learn scuba with a clear end-to-end plan — whether training entirely locally or using the eLearning-then-referral split that moves open-water dives to the destination.

About this playbook

A step-by-step program that takes a complete beginner from zero to an open-water scuba certification — PADI, SSI, or equivalent — before a booked dive trip. It sequences every stage: medical clearance, agency choice, eLearning theory, confined-water (pool) training, the four open-water dives, and the final logistics that trip itineraries depend on, including flying-after-diving intervals, gear decisions, and dive insurance. The playbook works for both a full local course and the eLearning-plus-referral path that lets open-water dives happen at the destination. It does not cover advanced certifications, rescue diver, or dive master training; it stops once the open-water card is in hand.
